'Twas The Night Before Christmas And All Around The Bay...
'Twas the night before Christmas, and all around the Bay,
Rain has returned to the radar, but this time for only one day.
The month of December has seen its share of heavy rain,
But despite the drenching, we're in a drought, so there's no need to complain.
It may not be the best weather for running, walking, or riding a bike,
Because it hasn't been this wet in San Jose since we had a President named "Ike".
Despite the flooding, wind, and mudslides, people weren't in a mood to pout,
As all of this rain has erased at least 20 percent of our long-term drought.
The short-term forecast has most of the Bay Area rain-free,
It's a ridge of high pressure that's keeping the storm track away from you and me.
But the long-range outlook tells an entirely different story,
Climate experts predict a return of the rain in all its winter-time glory.
Our snowpack in the Sierra right now is sitting at 56 percent,
Not great, not bad, but we need more to give our drought another dent.
Shasta Lake is more full than it has been in a while,
36 billion gallons bigger in just one week, that's enough to make you smile.
For now, be thankful that our hills, parks, and yards are all turning green.
