Tupac Pop-Up Café Pays Tribute To The Oakland Rapper
By Hayden Wright
(RADIO.COM) – On Tuesday, September 13th, Tupac fans around the world are observing the 20th anniversary of the rapper's untimely death in 1996, but those in Fresno have a special place to remember his legacy, reports Stereogum.
A pop-up café called Powamekka Café pays tribute to Tupac, who planned to open a chain of eateries by the same name. A California Love Chicken Sandwich and Thug Love Cake Pops name check some Tupac classics for today only. The location of Pawamekka is Take 3 Burgers, and the restaurant received a full design overhaul for the occasion.
Fresno Grizzlies Marketing Director Sam Hansen—a former member of Kanye West's design entourage—joined forces with Take 3 to plan the event. "Working on Powamekka Café makes me feel like I'm bringing Pac's vision to life like I used to do for Kanye," he said.
The 20th anniversary also prompted the release of a new trailer for All Eyez on Me, the forthcoming biopic starring Demetrius Shipp, Jr.
