Tuesday's Snow Sets Up Spring Ski Conditions In Lake Tahoe

KPIX 5 Morning Weather Anchor Roberta Gonzales answers the questions you never get to ask on-air.

Q: How much snow did Tahoe resorts get this week? Is it worth making the trip?

A: Just when you thought it was over!

The 2014-2015 ski and ride season is not over at Lake Tahoe. Heavenly Mountain Resort, Northstar California and Kirkwood Mountain Resort received 10-28" of new snow this week, helping the resorts finish the last weeks of the ski and ride season on a strong note and providing fun spring skiing conditions for Bay Area skiers and boarders.

"We're thrilled that we've been able to provide skiers with a great mountain experience and reliable conditions throughout winter and into spring," said Pete Sonntag, vice president and chief operating officer for Heavenly. "These three resorts are going to finish the season strong."

It's true, when the snow did not fall, all three Mountains cranked up the powerful snow machines to produce the best conditions during the ongoing West Coast drought. But now it's the real deal. Powder from top to bottom.

So what do you do when the kids are now playing baseball on the weekends, but the slopes are beaming in snow? Baseball one day, skiing and riding the next? It's a hard call, but a good problem to have when living in Northern California!

A little background on three of Tahoe Resorts:

Collectively, Heavenly Mountain Resort, Northstar California Resort and Kirkwood Mountain Resort offer guests unmatched variety, the most terrain with 10,270 skiable acres. The three Tahoe resorts represent the true essence of Lake Tahoe's most famed characteristics – Heavenly's unrelenting, high-energy party atmosphere, Northstar's known for its laid-back California luxury and Kirkwood's renown for the big-mountain terrain and prodigious snow depth. Each resort's has unique characteristics to complement one another.

Whatever you have planned this upcoming weekend, I hope it is fun!
