Trip To China To Play Lakers Highlights Warriors' Preseason Schedule

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- The Golden State Warriors will travel to China as part of the 2013 NBA Global Games and host a pair of home games at Oracle Arena as part of a seven-game preseason schedule leading up to opening night, the team has announced.

The Warriors trip to China will begin in Beijing, where the team faces the Los Angeles Lakers on Oct. 15, at the MasterCard Center, which was home to the basketball competition at the 2008 Summer Olympics. The two teams will then travel to Shanghai to meet again on Oct. 18.

This marks the second time that the Warriors have traveled to China, as the team also made the trip in October of 2008 to play a pair of games against the Milwaukee Bucks – a 94-98 loss in Guangzhou and a 109-108 victory in Beijing. Overall, this is the fifth time that Golden State has traveled outside of the U.S. and Canada for preseason contests.

Golden State's two home preseason games at Oracle Arena are set for Oct. 7 against the Sacramento Kings and Oct. 24 against the Portland Trail Blazers.

To begin their preparations for the preseason and the upcoming NBA campaign, the Warriors will hold training camp at the team's practice facility in downtown Oakland beginning Sept. 28.
