Tourist Murder: Police Release Sketches Of Suspects That Stabbed British Tourist To Death
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Police released sketches of two suspects Monday in connection with the fatal February stabbing of a British tourist in San Francisco and are asking for the public's help to identify them.
Paul Tam, 48, died shortly before 11 p.m. March 24 at San Francisco General Hospital of injuries he suffered in the Feb. 18 attack near Japantown.
Tam was walking with his niece on Post Street near Franklin Street around 8:30 p.m. when a man and woman grabbed his bag, which contained cash, credit cards, a cellphone and the victim's passport, according to police.
When Tam held on to the bag, the male suspect chased Tam into the street and stabbed him in the head, before fleeing with Tam's belongings, police said.
Last month, police released surveillance video of the brutal attack. The video is available online at https://youtu.be/rQngnNOzb3Y.
The male suspect is described as a black man in his 30s or 40s with a muscular build who is about 5 feet 10 inches tall. He wore a dark hoodie and blue jeans, according to police.
The female suspect is described as a black or mixed race woman in her late 20s who is about 5 feet 4 inches tall with long dreadlocks or braids worn in a ponytail, police said.
The San Francisco Police Officers Association is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the two suspects.
