Tour Bus Driver Reports Brake Problems Before Fairfield I-80 Crash

FAIRFIELD, Calif. (KCBS/AP) - The driver of a tour bus that crashed near Fairfield, injuring 13 people, said she was having trouble with the brakes and drove off the roadway.

The California Highway Patrol was on Tuesday still trying to determine the exact cause of Monday's crash, but said it is looking into the possibility of a mechanical failure.

KCBS' Dave Padilla Reports:

The bus carrying 50 people, including the driver, was returning to San Francisco from Sacramento on Interstate 80 just north of Fairfield when it went off the roadway, up an embankment and through a fence. It came to a stop on an adjacent road.

CHP Sgt. Trent Cross said 13 people were transported by ambulance to hospitals with minor to moderate injuries.
