SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) — San Francisco police arrested the driver of a motorized cable car that struck and killed a woman in front of City Hall last Thursday and said the investigation finds that distraction to be a major factor.

Raymond Lucas, the 65-year-old driver for Classic Cable Car Charters, turned himself into police on Tuesday and was later release after being cited for misdemeanor vehicle manslaughter.
San Francisco police Cmdr. Mikhail Ali told KCBS that Lucas, 65, was driving and acting as a tour guide when he fatally struck 68-year-old city accountant Priscilla Moreto as she crossed the Polk Street crosswalk directly in front of the City Hall steps.
"There appeared to be an occasion, clearly here, where the driver was more focused on a landmark to his right— in this case, City Hall as opposed to the roadway in front of him," Ali said.
Tour bus narrating while driving is legal in certain circumstances.
Lucas is expected in court next month and face up to one year in county jail if convicted.
