Top San Francisco Officials Launch Campaign To End Domestic Violence
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) – San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee joined other top city officials and advocates against domestic violence on Thursday to launch a new campaign called "Peace at Home."
"Domestic violence knows no economic boundaries. It knows no social boundaries," said San Francisco District Attorney George Gascon. "It impacts all of us."
The new anti-violence campaign hopes to raise awareness about the problem of domestic violence, which has been in the headlines all year with the case of San Francisco Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi.

Lee said he hopes the education campaign will reach out to all San Franciscans.
"We're going to get to these homes. We're going to provide answers. We're going to provide a sense that you can't participate in domestic violence," said Lee.
Supervisor David Chiu has sponsored legislation for a $750,000 boost in domestic violence spending.
Orchid Pusey of the Asian Women's Shelter said she hopes the funding and new campaign will make a difference.
"We're trying our best to change the values that condone violence, that collude with violence, that minimize violence or that deny it wholesale and call it something else," she said.
The "Peace at Home" campaign is the first in a year-long series of actions to raise awareness about the services provided for domestic violence victims.
