Napa Time Capsule Opened After Being Unearthed By Last Year's Earthquake
NAPA (CBS SF) -- A time capsule that would have remained hidden for a century was unearthed after just thirty-five years under the ground thanks to the Napa earthquake.
Construction crews discovered the capsule while repairing the Napa County Courthouse, Paleofuture reported. The courthouse was damaged in the deadly 6.0 earthquake last August.
It being wine country, a bottle of Napa Rose was stashed away in the capsule, along with newspaper clippings, business cards, and even two live rounds of ammunition.

As for the ammunition, John Thill of the Napa County Library told Paleofuture he wasn't sure why it was included, saying "my guess is the ammunition came from one or more of the bailiffs working at the courthouse, I'm not sure what their motivation was."
