Three Firefighters Injured Battling 4-Alarm San Francisco Blaze
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Three firefighters were injured early Thursday battling a four-alarm blaze in San Francisco's Castro District, authorities said.
The blaze was reported at 27 Hattie Street at 12:17 a.m. and upgraded to a second alarm shortly after. Just before 12:40 a.m., the blaze went to a third alarm and then grew into a four-alarm response just before 1 a.m.
Officials said three firefighters have non-life-threatening injuries resulting from the blaze. One of the injured firefighters required transportation to a hospital for treatment of musculosketal and soft tissue injuries.
All seven residents of the building were able to escape without any injuries.
The Red Cross is at the scene providing services to the displaced parties, and will help to coordinate emergency housing for them, firefighters told Bay City News Service.
A female tabby cat is missing from one of the affected buildings, firefighters said. She was last seen running out the door by someone in the neighborhood.
Firefighters got the fire under control shortly after 2 a.m.
Firefighters are investigating the cause and origin of the blaze.
