Threats Made Against 2 Planes, Including Flight From SFO, Determined To Be Hoax
NEW YORK (CBS) — Nothing threatening was found aboard a pair of planes - one of them from San Francisco - involved in a security scare at New York's John F. Kennedy Airport on Monday afternoon, authorities said.
Officials said JFK Airport received a telephone threat about explosives or hijackers on both flights.
American Airlines Flight 524 from San Francisco and Finnair Flight 55 from Helsinki, Finland — both landed about 3:45 p.m. Eastern time and were moved to an isolated section of the airport while federal agents probed the situation.
An all-clear was given around 4:40 p.m. when authorities determined the threat was a hoax and the flights were then allowed to taxi back to their gates.
