Thrashers Beat The Sharks 4-2
SAN JOSE (CBS/AP) --Dustin Byfuglien scored with 6:20 left in the third period to break a tie, helping the Atlanta Thrashers beat the San Jose Sharks 4-2 on Saturday night.
Andrew Ladd, Anthony Stewart and Evander Kane also scored for the Thrashers, who won for the first time in seven trips to San Jose.
Dany Heatley and Ryane Clowe scored within 21 seconds of each other in the first period for the Sharks, who had their home opener spoiled.
Chris Mason stopped 37 of 39 shots to earn his second regular-season victory against the Sharks in 11 meetings. Antii Niemi stopped 24 of 28 shots in losing his first game with the Sharks.
Niemi won a Stanley Cup with the Chicago Blackhawks last season and faced four of his former teammates, including Ladd and Byfuglien.
