Thousands Served Thanksgiving Meal At SF's Glide Memorial Church
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Thousands gathered at Glide Memorial Church in San Francisco on Thursday for a special Thanksgiving meal.
The facility serves breakfast and lunch every day, but Thanksgiving and Christmas are always special.
"We serve about 2,300 a day. On our holiday events, we do serve between 5,000 and 6,000 meals," said Jean Cooper, Director of Community Building at Glide.

She said the menu included turkey, ham, stuffing, candied yams, salad, and carrot cake with ice cream for dessert.
Glide is just one of the organizations offering up meals for those in need on Thursday. Cooper said that other organizations, like the Salvation Army, St. Anthony Foundation and Meals on Wheels, meet a critical need, especially during the holiday season.
"It's constant. We always think, someday, we'll serve less," said Cooper. "But people keep coming and still need our resources."
Both breakfast and dinner were served at Glide on Thanksgiving, with the help of hundreds of volunteers.
