Masked Bandits Smash Truck Into Patagonia Store Near SF Fisherman's Wharf, Grab Clothes And Flee
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Three suspects wearing masks and gloves and driving a U-Haul-type box truck smashed into the glass front doors of the Patagonia store near San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf early Monday morning, according to police.
The smash-and-grab heist took place around 3:30 a.m.
The suspects grabbed racks of clothing and drove off and were still at large Monday.
The thieves mowed down the store's electronic sensors and shattered glass before grabbing the loot.
SFPD Sgt. Fitz Wong said store managers were busy trying to figure out how many high-end vests, jackets, scarves and shirts were taken.
Wong said that unfortunately this is not that unusual of an M.O. Before Christmas, thieves drove cars into the fronts of high-end stores in Union Square before making off with some expensive items.
