Theater Chain Searching Patrons' Bags Before Entering
BERKELEY (CBS SF) -- Regal Cinema is posting signs at all their theaters warning patrons that their bags are now subject to searches before entering the theater.
Recent movie theater shootings across the country prompted the increased security measures.
"We acknowledge that this procedure can cause some inconvenience and that it is not without flaws, but hope these are minor in comparison to increased safety," the company wrote in a statement.
At Regal Cinemas in Berkeley, moviegoers said safety outweighs everything.
"I have a baby, and I would feel much safer for my baby when she's going to the movies. It's like one less thing to worry about," Callie Miller of Berkeley said.
