'The Walking Dead' Revives Zombie Genre On Halloween
(CBS) On Halloween night, AMC spooked audiences with the pilot of its new zombie series"The Walking Dead" and the hype around it was anything but dead.
"The Walking Dead" is written and produced by three-time Academy Award-nominee Frank Darabont and the series is based on the comic book series written by Robert Kirkman.

"The Walking Dead" is pushing the envelope a bit with the blood and gore it's bringing to the small screen.
AMC picked up six episodes and in the first one, a small-town Georgia sheriff named Rick Grimes is left alone and desperately attempts to reunite with his family in a zombie apocalypse.
So what can we expect to see from this series - besides blood, of course?
"It's a very cool juxtaposition [that explains] what this show is going to be. The show is going to serve a lot of masters. There's going to be very straight human drama stuff, and then there's going to be very graphic, crazy zombie stuff. And it's neat that in the first minutes of the first episode you get a sense of exactly what the show is going to be bringing you, week after week," Robert Kirkman, comic creator, co-writer and executive producer told Entertainment Weekly.
There was even a Jim Carrey look-a-like zombie in the show. According to Kirkman, it's not Carrey, but an actor who works for a visual effects company called, KNB. He appears four times as different zombies in the six episodes.
