Grateful Dead Reportedly Considering Farewell Performances At Levi's Stadium Or AT&T Park
SANTA CLARA (CBS SF) – After fans of the Grateful Dead quickly snapped up tickets for this summer's "Fare Thee Well" concerts in Chicago, the surviving members of the band could be looking at performing for Deadheads in the Bay Area.
A source familiar with the band told Billboard magazine that the Grateful Dead are "considering" shows at either Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara or AT&T Park, possibly on the final weekend in June.
If the band performs in the Bay Area, there will already be a huge demand for tickets. Half a million people attempted to buy tickets for the three shows at Soldier Field on Ticketmaster, and the shows sold out in minutes.
The band also allowed fans to request tickets for those shows by mail. While the band expected 10,000 mail requests, more than 60,000 people sent in envelopes to an address in Stinson Beach.
The Grateful Dead's concerts in Chicago are set for the July 4th weekend. As of Friday night, the cheapest ticket on Stubhub is an obstructed view seat going for $420.
