Thanksgiving Travelers Allowed To Carry On Some Unusual Items At SFO
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) – Long lines awaited many people jetting out of town at San Francisco International Airport on Wednesday, but for the most part, security lines moved fairly smoothly.
Being that it is the Thanksgiving holiday, according to Cheryl Roberts with Travelocity, many travelers don't quite realize what they can and can't carry on with them.
KCBS' Holly Quan Reports:
"You can take your turkey with you, check it through security. But if you want to take cranberry sauce for instance, you actually have to put that in your luggage," said Roberts. "There are some things like that that are kind of quirky. For example, you can't take gravy. Gravy has to go in checked luggage, and make sure it is sealed really well."
Roberts was at SFO on Wednesday, answering any questions passengers might have.
One woman was busy trying to seal up her pie before going through security. But Transportation Security Administration officials at the airport said pies are permissible through security gates, although they may be subject to additional examination.
