Texas Handcuffs A's; Braden Roughed Up
SURPRISE, Ariz. (AP) -- Neftali Feliz and Derek Holland each threw three scoreless innings and the Texas Rangers beat the Oakland Athletics 9-2 Wednesday.
Feliz and Holland both had been competing for one of the last two spots in the Rangers' rotation. But Feliz said earlier this week that he prefers to remain the closer, as he was last season in winning the American League Rookie of the Year award.
Holland started against Oakland, allowed two hits, struck out four and faced only one hitter over the minimum.
Feliz came on in the sixth and gave up one hit, two walks and also struck out four.
Michael Young hit a two-run double in Texas' five-run first inning against Dallas Braden.
