Tesla Motors Announces Massive Rollout Of Electric Car Supercharger Stations
PALO ALTO (KCBS) — Tesla Motors has plans for a dramatic rollout of its network of super-fast car charging stations, to ease the range anxiety for drivers of their all-electric Model S sedan.
Initial details emerged on Wednesday from the All Things Digital tech conference in Southern California from Tesla's CEO Elon Musk. When the technology was initially unveiled musk had alluded to the rollout.
"Within two years…this is not an exaggeration, within two years we will cover almost the entire United States with Superchargers. You'll be able to travel practically anywhere," Must said.
The Palo Alto company's Supercharger station expansion will allow owners of the Model S to quickly juice their batteries on the road for free. By the end of June, Musk said the company will have tripled the charging station's coverage area.
The company currently has six Supercharger stations in California, including one in Gilroy.

On Wednesday the state Senate passed a bill that would expand access to charging stations by allowing electric vehicle drivers to use multiple payment systems to top off their batteries.
