Tesla CEO Pledges $1M To Proposed Nikola Tesla Museum

FREMONT (CBS SF) -- Nikola Tesla got a big present for his 158^th birthday from the man responsible for his namesake electric car company.

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has pledged $1 million toward building a museum dedicated to the Serbian-American inventor, Live Science reported.

The proposed museum would be built on the grounds of Tesla's laboratory in Wardenclyffe in Long Island, New York, where Tesla once build a 187-foot transmitter tower for wireless electrical distribution experiments.

Musk announced the donation during a conference call with the Vice President of the Tesla Museum, Gene Genova, and Matthew Inman, creator of web comic "The Oatmeal" which sparked a crowdfunding campaign that raised over $1 million in nine days to save the Wardenclyffe site from being sold to developers.
