Teens Attempt To Rob San Mateo Home During Party
SAN MATEO (CBS SF) - Three teenagers attempted to rob a San Mateo home as the residents were hosting a holiday party early Saturday morning, police said.
Three teens—a 15-year-old from Oakland, a 16-year-old from San Mateo and John Johnstone, 18, from Hayward—broke into a home in the 1700 block of Norfolk Street at about 1:20 a.m. Saturday and confronted the residents during the party, according to police.
The residents refused to give in to the teens' demands for money. The teens then attacked the residents, who were trying to remove them from the house, police said.
One resident was cut by a knife wielded by Johnstone during the fight. The victim was not seriously injured, police said.
Officers arrived and arrested the three teens. The two juveniles were booked at juvenile hall on suspicion of attempted robbery and conspiracy while Johnstone was booked into San Mateo County Jail on suspicion of attempted robbery, conspiracy and assault with a deadly weapon, police said.
