Teens Rescued From Rising Waters Off North Bay Beach
MARIN COUNTY (CBS SF) – A teenage girl is in critical condition Wednesday night after she and two other teens became stranded as waters rose off a Marin County beach.
Witnesses told CBS 5 the teens were at Tennessee Valley Beach when they were caught in the cove between the rising tide and rocks. Waves washed over them and eventually a 17-year-old girl was swept up into a rip current.
According to a U.S. Coast Guard statement, a crew with the National Park Service along with a Good Samaritan helped bring the teen to shore.
Several minutes later, a rescue swimmer was lowered from a Coast Guard helicopter to administer first aid. The girl was then transported by CHP helicopter to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek.
Emergency crews found the two other teens on the beach. They were airlifted to Marin General Hospital in Greenbrae for treatment. A fourth person on the beach who tried to help the teens also became trapped by the waves, but was not injured.
