San Leandro Teen Points Loaded Gun In Argument Over A Girl
SAN LEANDRO (CBS SF) - An 18-year-old San Leandro man has been charged for pointing a loaded gun at a San Leandro High School student at an after-school hangout spot Monday afternoon, police said.
A San Leandro High School student told police a former student from the school, later identified as Dashawn Garland, pointed a loaded gun at him during an argument in a 7-Eleven convenience store at 13792 E. 14th St. around 3:30 p.m. Monday.
Garland allegedly became upset that the victim was hugging a female friend. Garland and the victim starting arguing, during which Garland took out the gun that he pointed at the victim, according to police.
On Tuesday, a San Leandro police detective found Garland in the 300 block of Callan Avenue. He attempted to flee but was caught and arrested, police said.
Garland was charged by the Alameda County District Attorney's Office with assault with a deadly weapon, police said.
