Teen Motorcycle Rider Killed, Passenger Hurt In San Jose Crash
SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- An 18-year-old man died shortly after his motorcycle collided with a car in San Jose on Thursday night, police said.
The man was driving the motorcycle with a woman passenger at 8:23 p.m. and hit a 2005 Toyota Corolla as he was turning from southbound Oberland Way to westbound Beckham Drive, police said.
Neither the man nor the woman were wearing helmets. The man was taken to Regional Medical Center but succumbed to his injuries at 10:22 p.m.
The 18-year-old woman was transported to a hospital as well, but her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, police said.
The driver of the Toyota remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police said she did not appear to be intoxicated.
Police said it is unclear whether the motorcycle driver was intoxicated, and detectives are investigating whether speed was a factor in the collision.
The man's name has been withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
