Teen Fatally Stabbed Near San Jose High School Identified
SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- A San Jose High School student stabbed to death near the campus Wednesday was identified as 17-year-old Anthony Daniel Santa Cruz, the San Jose Police Department said Friday.
Police responded to a call at 3:14 p.m. about a stabbing in the area of North 21st and Julian streets a block west of the high school shortly after classes got out, police said.

A preliminary investigation found that Santa Cruz had been involved with an altercation with at least two suspects that ended in the stabbing, police said.
The suspects fled the scene, police said. Homicide detectives believe the stabbing was gang-related.
The San Jose Police Department is urging anyone with information about the incident to call the homicide unit at (408) 277-5283 or leave an anonymous tip with Silicon Valley Crime Stoppers at (408) 947-7867.
