Teen Arrested In Murder Of Restaurant Cook In San Francisco's Mission District

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS/AP) – Police have arrested a 15-year-old boy accused in the fatal shooting of a San Francisco restaurant cook who apparently was mistaken for a rival gang member.

Twenty-two-year-old Gaspar Puch-tzek was taking a smoking break from his job at the Hogs & Rocks restaurant in the city's Mission District when he was approached by two young men shortly after midnight on Aug. 30.

KCBS' Anna Duckworth Reports:

During the confrontation, Puch-tzek was shot in the head on the street. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Investigators believe Puch-tzek was mistaken as a member of the Sureno gang.

Police said Thursday the suspect already was in juvenile custody in an unrelated case when they arrested him. He's been booked on suspicion of one count of homicide, two firearms violations and a gang enhancement.
