Tech Report: Will Google Bite Into The Amazon Empire With Shopping Express?
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)— Google is rumored to be working on a new service to compete with Amazon Prime. TechCrunch is reporting the new service is going to be called "Google Shopping Express".
For those unfamiliar with Amazon Prime we should start there. It's a service that you pay $79 a year for. In exchange, you get free two-day shipping on most items that are sold directly by Amazon or handled by them (It may not apply if it's an associate store).
As a bonus you get access to free video. They have a streaming service that competes with Netflix, but has nowhere near as much content as them.
I'm a prime member; use it a lot and it in fact causes me to spend more at Amazon.
Google is now, according to TechCrunch, considering getting involved and it may even be a cheaper service (as low as $64-69 a year).

It would also use other merchants or other affiliates and may even offer same-day delivery. This could incorporate brick and mortar businesses that could deliver the products you order the same day.
Google already has a shopping website, Google Shopping, in place and has relationships in place with merchants. Clearly they would have to develop an infrastructure for delivery service if indeed this rumor is true.
