Tech Report: Smaller iPad In The Works?
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)-- With the success of Amazon's Kindle, there has been speculation about what Apple will do to strike back. Some analysts are speculating that the company will introduce a 7-inch version of the iPad.
KCBS Technology Analyst Larry Magid said that Steve Jobs, the late leader of Apple, loved the 11-inch iPad and was adamant that they wouldn't go smaller. Magid said that Jobs would sometimes be moved by the market.
"Jobs would sometimes say things and then change his mind," Magid said. "In this case there is a market force and it's Amazon Kindle."
KCBS Technology Analyst Larry Magid:
Magid said that Amazon is doing very well with the Kindle, and it is the first real competitor with the iPad.
Magid said a smaller size has both pros and cons.
The biggest factor, Magid said, is the price, with the Kindle being much cheaper at $199 compared with the $500 iPad.
