Tech Report: PlayStation 4 Forecast - Partly Cloudy
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - Sony has unveiled its next-generation gaming system, simply called the PlayStation 4 at an event in New York. So the question is: how does it differ from its previous version?
If I were to give it a forecast, I'd call it partly cloudy. What I mean by that is it's not a full, cloud-based system. I presume it will still have optical media, but they didn't get into those details yet as of late Wednesday afternoon. There will be a hard drive, but you'll also be able to preview games via the cloud. If you buy a game it will immediately start downloading so that you can play within seconds (provided your connection is high-speed enough).
Another exciting announcement is they plan to allow the system to play PS2 and PS3 games on the PlayStation 4 device or any other device for that matter via cloud technology. This eliminates the need for a disc and instead you would make the purchase and simply stream it.

There's a large social emphasis with the newer version and the fact that you can compete and play with friends. You can take video of your gaming experience and upload it and share the game you played with friends.
