Tech Report: PC Innovates In Smartphone, Tablet Driven Market
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) — Sales of smartphones and tablets may have hurt sales of old-fashioned PC's, but after returning from the IFA Consumer Electronics Show in Berlin I saw some things that show the PC industry isn't quite dead.
My colleague just wrote a piece for CNET on how the PC market is being re-born. He was also at the IFA Conference and noticed a bunch of form factors, different PC's.
Back in the old days, we had these big beige boxes as desktops and maybe clunky laptops, but now it's a variety of things - everything from the Ultrabooks that look very sleek and lightweight, and in some cases under three-pound notebooks all the way to the new tablets.
KCBS Tech Report:
The Windows 8 revolution that happens this fall includes a lot of tablets with both keyboards and touch screens when they come out with their new operating system.
A lot of the inspiration seems to be coming from the iPad. Apple was also innovative in the way they included the computers CPU in the monitor. Dell has shifted towards all-in-one units.
