Tech Report: Kids' Online Exposure To Tragedy In Connecticut
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) — Parents wanting to shield their children from some of the more disturbing aspects of the massacre in Connecticut have a lot to contend with, especially in this day and age.
In the old days, we could just turn off the TV or change the channel on the radio during the ride home from school. But what's a parent to do in the era of Twitter and Facebook?
It's a good chance children have already found out about the shootings on either their mobile phones or on social media. I don't think you can shield them from the actual news, but you can surround them and hug them.
KCBS Tech Report:
It's important to try to keep them from obsessing over the news and spending hours online digging into the story. On the other hand, maybe they're going online to express their feelings to their friends, which is probably healthy.
There's no easy answer for what happened regarding how to deal with this terrible tragedy, especially in this day and age I don't think you can keep your kids from knowing what happened.
