Tech Report: Intel Getting Into Internet TV
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)— Intel is getting into the TV business. The company has confirmed that it will begin offering a set top-box to deliver movies and TV shows to your television set.
We don't have a lot of details, but Erik Huggers, corporate VP of Intel Media, spoke at an All Things D event in New York on Tuesday, where he briefly described what appears to be an all-in-one solution. The service includes distribution of live television, what they're calling "catch-up TV" and On-Demand service, of course connected to the internet.
It's part of a growing number of devices such as Roku, Google TV, which actually often use Intel chips, and then there's Apple TV.

I think they will all compete with each other, but we won't have to worry about a media problem. If you go way back about 30 years ago there was the beta vs. VHS debate where you could only handle one format or the other.
With this service you'll buy whatever service provider you want and it will connect via modem, cable or satellite or whatever system you have to get internet in your house. It's looking like there will be several options.
