Tech Report: Google Unveils Redesigned Gmail App
MOUNTAIN VIEW (KCBS) – Google is out with a redesigned Gmail app for the iPhone and iPad, with the company promising new features.
Although Apple already has an app that allows users to access all of their email accounts, the new Google app also has a brand new look and feel and improvements over the previous design.
KCBS Technology Analyst Larry Magid:
Users can now see profile pictures in messages, there are new animations in the message lists and it also has new time-saving features.
Gmail 2.0 for iOS also supports multiple accounts, allowing users to login to up to five Google accounts from the menu and switch between them with a simple tap or two.
Ever since Google purchased Sparrow, a popular Gmail client for iOS, in July, the company has been working on improving the app.
Gmail for iOS got off to a bit of a rocky start when it launched in November of 2011 with reports of notifications not working and users getting an error message when opening the app for the first time.
You can hear Larry Magid's Tech Report Monday through Friday at 3:50pm on KCBS All News 740AM and 106.9FM.
