Tech Report: Google To launch Cloud-Based Storage Service
MOUNTAIN VIEW (KCBS) – Internet giant Google is expected to launch an online, cloud-based storage service soon.
According to GigaOm, the company is expected to launch the service dubbed Google Drive or GDrive as soon as the first week of April.
KCBS Technology Analyst Larry Magid said that the idea has been in the works for a few years.

According to GigaOm's report, Google is expected to first offer 1 GB of storage space for free, with fees for extra storage thereafter. By comparison, one of the leading drive systems, Dropbox, starts off with 2 GB free.
Magid said that it is likely that Google is just starting off small, but will likely expand so that it can compete with other companies offering more free space.
