Tech Report: Ford Introduces Internet-Driven Concept Car At Germany Trade Show
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - The world's largest consumer electronics' trade shows is about to get underway in Germany.
Ford is there to show off Evos, its new concept car.
KCBS Technology Analyst Larry Magid said the plug-in hybrid uses Internet technology to adapt to the driver.
"It has a database that knows what kind of music you like, your driving style, do you like an aggressive suspension, do you like a smoother suspension."
"It knows where you work, what time you like to get to work, it knows about the traffic, it can do alternate routing," he said.
KCBS' Technology Analyst Larry Magid:
Magid said the Ford's goal is to really change the way a car looks and drives and the technology behind the car.
"It will find a parking space for you, it will reserve it and when you drive into the parking space it will use inductive coils to automatically charge your battery."
Magid said to remember this is a concept, what Ford thinks the future will look like, not a product that will be on the market within the next couple of years.
He said it highlights the fact that the car industry is finally moving forward.
"I think that cars were pretty stagnant for much of the 70's, 80's and 90's, but now Ford and its competitors are really trying to adapt to technology to change the way cars look, feel and drive."
You can hear Larry Magid's Tech Report Monday through Friday at 3:50pm on KCBS All News 740AM and 106.9FM.
