Tech Report: Facebook Fixes Messaging Glitch
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)— New Year's Eve means popping some champagne, maybe finding someone to steal a kiss from at midnight and now, sending a Facebook message to your friends no matter the time zone right when 2012 becomes 2013.
But there was a recent security glitch in the social media network's messaging service when a blogger found that if you copy the URL or the ID number that you can actually find other people's messages. It was considered serious since you could read other people's messages to either strangers or to potential people you might know.
That has since been fixed by Facebook. The messenger app is now back up after being taken down for a while.
You can check out the New Year's message app (if you go to Larrysworld.com it will take you right to it). All you do is click on it and type in your friend's name or select them and then presumably at midnight (in whatever time zone they are in) they get a happy New Year message.

It's a neat way to try to be the first to wish your friends and family a happy new year via Facebook. It's especially cool if they have the app installed on their phone. That way they'll receive it no matter where they are.
