Tech Report: Are Teens Experiencing Facebook Fatigue?

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- Could Facebook's popularity have peaked? One Silicon Valley tech analyst thinks so, based on an informal poll of some high school students and his own usage.

Ben Bajarin, a director at Creative Strategies, wrote on Time.com that teenagers told him they were bored with the site.

"This is sort of an anecdotal report based on an informal survey by an analyst," said KCBS Technology Analyst Larry Magid. "Ben's a smart guy, but he doesn't have all the answers."

Magid added that that he doesn't think Facebook has peaked, but that nothing lasts forever.

KCBS Technology Analyst Larry Magid:

"I do think that Facebook fatigue is a concern," Magid said.

The biggest threat to Facebook is Google Plus, Magid said, adding that Facebook could have some strong competitors.

Magid said he spends a lot of time on Twitter, and he added there are many other social networking sites.

"Facebook is not the only game in town, but it is by far the biggest game," Magid said.
