Tea Party Express Launching Nationwide Bus Tour In Napa
NAPA (KCBS) – The Northern California team behind the largest and best-funded Tea Party faction will be flexing its financial muscles this weekend as it kicks off a nationwide bus tour with a rally in Napa.
The Tea Party Express is running a television ad to try to get people to come to its "super rally" event in Napa on Saturday morning.
"We are kicking off our fifth national bus tour from Napa Valley, right in the heart of Liberal land," said Tea Press Express Chairman Amy Kremer. "We're going to go across the country for a little over two weeks and we end up in Tampa, Florida for the first-ever Tea Party presidential debate that we are co-hosting with CNN."
KCBS' Doug Sovern Reports:
Kremer said most of the Republican presidential contenders are expected to join the rallies along the way in the early caucus and primary states.
"We're looking for the true Constitutional Conservative, the person who has the ideas and solutions to turn the economy around and get America back on a sound economic footing," she said.
The group, which is run by veteran Sacramento Republican strategist Sal Russo, is trying to convince the GOP that it can't win next year without aligning with Tea Party principles.
