Taylor Swift's Gift To 'Arrow' Girl
SAN RAFAEL (CBSSF/KPIX 5) - The 8-year-old San Rafael girl hit by an arrow while outside the Lawrence Hall of Science last week got a special gift from the pop star who's music helped calm her during the ordeal.
Nadine was on a fieldtrip with her class last Tuesday, when a crossbow arrow lodged in her leg as she played on a whale structure outside the museum. She sang Taylor Swift songs to calm herself as she was rushed to the hospital.
"Oh my gosh, I was singing 'Sparks Fly' in the ambulance with the arrow in my leg," recalled Nadine.
The arrow was removed, and Nadine is making a strong recovery, though she is still in pain. The person responsible for the shooting has yet to be located, and it remains unclear if the girl was targeted, or simply hit by an errant shot.
Swift heard about Nadine, and wanted to do something for such a loyal fan. On Tuesday, a care package arrived with a backpack and other Swift-themed items.
"It takes the pain away a lot," said Nadine, who had a message for Swift, "Thank you!"
In the week since the shooting Nadine has gained some fame of her own, even signing a few autographs.
