Taylor Swift Premieres New Single On YouTube
SAN BRUNO (CBS SF/99.7 NOW) - On Tuesday, Country music superstar, Taylor Swift took to a live video chat on San Bruno-based YouTube to premiere her brand new lead single, We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together, off her fourth studio album, Red. As one of the most popular music stars in the world, there was no doubt that Swift's new tunes would be highly sought after. Now, with two years since her last major release, Swift is finally gearing up to release her new music, and she's already proved that it's been worth the wait!
At the very end of the night's live chat with her fans, Swift surprised viewers with the new single, sarcastically introducing it as, "a really romantic song," perfectly summing up the track's message. We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together is a completely unabashed breakup anthem, rivaling Kelly Clarkson's mega-hit, Since U Been Gone. In between the biting verses about her ex "picking fights" and "swearing to change," Swift yells her catchiest chorus yet: "We! Are Never! Ever! Ever! Getting back together!" (Think Katy Perry's crowd-chanting finale on her hit, Teenage Dream).
While Swift is already considered a country/pop crossover artist, We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together boasts a noticeably heavier pop influence than her prior singles, likely due to her brand new collaborations with third-party producers. In the live chat, Swift told fans that Red would feature songwriting and vocal credits by British star, Ed Sheeran, as well as musical production from Max Martin (pop mastermind behind Britney Spears, Katy Perry, etc.). This partnership with Martin is immediately clear on We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together, which boils over with his signature pop tricks.

Along with premiering her new single on the live chat, Taylor Swift also shared plenty of other interesting news about the album. First and foremost, Swift confirmed that Red would be released on October 22nd (exactly two years since her third album, Speak Now), and that the album would contain 16 brand new songs. Speaking of the songwriting process, Swift stated that she wrote over 30 songs for the album, and eventually had to narrow it down by half to form the finished record. Judging by her past work, we have complete faith that Taylor has made the right decisions, and we can't wait to see what she's got planned with her new album.
What do you think of Taylor's new single?

- It's okay… Too similar to her other songs.
