Man Who Allegedly Attacked Firefighter Near Wildfire Arrested
MONTEREY COUNTY (CBS SF) -- Monterey County sheriff's deputies arrested a man Monday evening near Jamesburg, after he allegedly attacked a firefighter in a disaster area near the Tassajara wildfire.
Around 6:20 p.m., a firefighter had asked a man to leave his home, located in the 30000 block of Tassajara Road in unincorporated Monterey County, because of safety concerns, according to sheriff's officials.
The suspect then pushed the firefighter and attempted to punch him, sheriff's officials said.
Deputies identified the man as 63-year-old Jack West.
Deputies arrested West for battery and booked him into the Monterey County Jail, sheriff's officials said.
