Suspicious Package In San Francisco's Financial District Rendered Safe

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Police and fire units responded to a report of a suspicious package in the city's Financial District Wednesday morning that shut down a busy intersection for about an hour.

The suspicious package is located in the 300 block of Pine Street, police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza reported at 10:35 a.m.

UPDATE Police and fire units responded to a suspicious package on 300 block of Pine at the Fed Ex office. The package was rendered safe by the bomb squad shortly after 11 a.m. and the street reopened. More on the story here: http://cbsloc.al/1RnV2XL

The city's Department of Emergency Management warned residents to avoid Pine Street between Montgomery and Battery streets shortly after 10 a.m.

At about 11:20 a.m., the SFPD's Public Information Officer Albie Esparza tweeted that the device had been taken by the bomb squad and rendered safe.

The intersection was cleared at around the same time.
