Suspicious Activity Probed Near Hayward Railroad Tracks
HAYWARD (BCN) - Hayward police were investigating a suspicious incident near the Union Pacific railroad tracks Monday morning.
At 11:08 a.m., officers at Hayward Police Department were called to a spot near Elmhurst Street and Amador Street.
"It appears that there was some sort of a shooting or collision that happened on Elmhurst Street, just east of Amador Street," Lt. Roger Keener said. "However, we have no evidence to substantiate that suspicion yet."
The call notified authorities of noise that sounded like either a collision or several shots fired, Keener said.
Police were still at the scene as of 12:15 p.m., looking for witnesses and evidence.
"We have the description of a man seen leaving the area," Keener said. "But we have no reason to believe he was involved as of yet."
