Suspected Fake Cop Arrested In SF Market Street Attack
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS/AP) - A man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after allegedly impersonating a police officer and attacking another man in San Francisco's Mid-Market neighborhood, police said.
About 4:25 p.m., the 34-year-old suspect approached the victim near the intersection of Market and Eighth streets and said he was a police officer.
The victim, a 45-year-old man, asked to see the suspect's badge and ID, but he refused, so the victim started to walk away, according to police.
As he was leaving, the suspect grabbed him and threw him to the ground, then kicked him numerous times until he blacked out, police said.
The suspect ran away but was later arrested. His name has not yet been released.
The victim suffered bruises to his abdomen and face but is expected to survive, according to police.
