Suspected DUI Driver Plows Into San Mateo Fire Station
SAN MATEO (CBS SF) - An Oakland woman who crashed her SUV into a San Mateo fire station on Monday night while her teenage daughter was in the car has been arrested for driving under the influence and child endangerment, a police sergeant said.
Lasheena Cardona, 36, lost control of her GMC Yukon on state Highway 92, left the roadway and crashed into a rolling garage door at the San Mateo Fire Department's Station 27 on De Anza Boulevard at about 10:50 p.m., police Sgt. Dave Norris said.
Cardona was pulled unconscious from the vehicle and taken to a hospital, Norris said. Her 17-year-old daughter was treated for a minor injury at a hospital and released.
There were firefighters at the station when the accident happened but no one was injured, Norris said. The crash, however, caused extensive damage to the building, he said.
Cardona, who was still in the hospital Tuesday morning, has been arrested and cited for felony DUI and felony child endangerment, Norris said.
