Suspected Concord Bank Robber Jailed After Citizen Follows Him
CONCORD (BCN) - A suspected bank robber was jailed Tuesday after a citizen in Concord followed him from the scene Monday and told police where to find him, Concord police Lt. David Hughes said.
The suspect, later identified as 25-year-old Pittsburg resident Brandon Siragusa, allegedly entered the Wells Fargo bank at 4599 Clayton Rd. shortly after 10 a.m. He reportedly brandished a handgun at employees and customers and robbed a teller, Hughes said.
No shots were fired and nobody was hurt during the robbery.
When the man fled the bank in a vehicle, a citizen followed him and called a police dispatcher to tell them where the robber was, Hughes said.
The citizen directed officers to the area of Claycord and Geneva avenues, where an officer arrested Siragusa, Hughes said.
Siragusa has been booked into county jail on suspicion of bank robbery.
Investigators, who are working with the FBI, plan to present the case to the district attorney's office later this week, Hughes said.
