Suspect Sought In SF Mission District Sex Assaults
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- San Francisco police took part in a community-organized meeting in the city's Mission District Wednesday night, discussing two recent sexual assaults in the neighborhood.
The attacks were reported on Nov. 18 and Dec. 8 and both occurred along 24th Street in the early morning hours between 3 a.m. and 6:30 a.m., police said.
In both cases, which investigators believe are connected, the victims were attacked from behind, sexually assaulted and robbed of their belongings.
The meeting, organized by local neighborhood groups, was held at St. James Catholic Church.
The suspect in both attacks was described as a black man in his mid 30s who is between 5 feet 9 inches and 6 feet tall with a medium build. Police also found surveillance footage of the suspect and released a photo last week.
Anyone with information about the attacks or suspect is encouraged to call the Police Department's anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or send a tip by text message to TIP411.
