Suspect Sought In Martinez Bank Robbery
MARTINEZ (BCN) - Officers were looking for a man who robbed a bank in Martinez Wednesday afternoon, the Martinez Police Department said.
Police responded to reports of a robbery at West America Bank at 601 Ferry St. at about 2:30 p.m.
Arriving officers learned that a black man wearing a long-sleeve, hooded sweatshirt jumped to the teller side of the bank's counter and demanded money from the teller drawers, police said.
The man made motions like he had a weapon in his pants, but no weapon was seen. He put the money in a small green bag he brought with him and ran away from the bank, police said.
A pair of shoes was left just inside the doors of the bank, police said.
The suspect is described as 5 feet 3 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, slim build, wearing the sweatshirt, black pants and a black bandana covering his face.
Anyone with information about the case should contact Sgt. Jon Sylvia at (925) 372-3450.
