Suspect Sketch Released In Walnut Creek Apartment Assaults
WALNUT CREEK (BCN) - The Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office was asking for the public's help in identifying a man suspected of attempting to sexually assault a woman Saturday at an apartment complex in unincorporated Walnut Creek.
Since June, five cases of sexual assault have been reported at the Park Regency apartment complex, and the latest attack was reported Saturday at about 6:45 p.m., according to the sheriff's office.
A 43-year-old woman was leaving her apartment when a man grabbed her from behind and attempted to force her back inside. The victim broke free from her attacker, but fell down some stairs as she fled.
The suspect in Saturday's attack is described as a white man about 5 feet 9 inches tall with a medium build. He had brown hair and facial hair. He was wearing black jeans, a black T-shirt, and a black baseball cap.
A spokesman with the sheriff's office said Monday that it is not yet clear whether this suspect is responsible for a Sept. 16 attack at the complex in which a 27-year-old resident was raped inside her apartment.
The suspect in that attack was described as a white man between 20 and 30 years old. He was about 6 feet tall and had a full beard, according to deputies.
Three other unrelated sexual assaults happened at the same apartment complex on June 30, July 6, and Aug. 10. The sheriff's office arrested 22-year-old Antonio Mouton of Berkeley, on Aug. 10 for all three attacks after DNA allegedly linked him to the rape.
Mouton pleaded not guilty in August to charges of rape, two counts of attempted rape and three counts of burglary.
